Police in Rivers State have arrested one Kingsley Chinamezu, 23, also known as “Power Sharp,” for allegedly macheted his girlfriend, Miss Confidence Konebari Sunny (44) to death.
The crime occurred on July 30, 2025, in the Umuebule community of Etche Local Government Area. The police said after the murder, the suspect fled to Egbeta village in Edo State, where he reportedly began issuing further threats to the victim’s family, boasting that he could harm them without consequence.
The state police command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday.
She said the suspect is undergoing further investigation and profiling for potential involvement in other related crimes.

According to a press statement from the police, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) used technical intelligence to track down and apprehend Chinamezu on August 15, 2025, at his hideout in Egbeta village, Edo State.
The statement said upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that the police are currently collecting evidence and that the suspect will be prosecuted once the investigation is completed.
Our correspondent reports that this incident follows a similar crime just last Sunday, when a man identified as “Doctor” allegedly stabbed his female friend, “Ima,” to death on Okereke Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, over an allegation of cheating.
The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, had praised the swift action of the operatives.
He stated that Rivers State would not be a safe haven for criminals and assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and public safety.
