Vigilantes have arrested 48-year-old man, Mohammed Aliyu, while dismantling a motorcycle which was allegedly stolen at UnguwarDiyo area in Madalla, Niger State.

A member of the vigilantes from Chibiri village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT, Danjuma Usman, confirmed the arrest to our reporter on Sunday through the telephone.

He said one Yahaya, who stole a motorcycle in Chibiri village last week, led the vigilantes to Madalla where he sold the motorcycle.

He said the man, who specializes in selling fairly used motorcycle parts in Madalla, allegedly bought the motorcycle from the suspect, dismantled the parts and displayed them for sale.

He said the suspect, a notorious bike thief, last Thursday, broke into the house of a resident of Chibiri village, Issac Musa, removed his bike and took it to Madalla to sell.

He said, “ through investigation, the vigilantes discovered that it was the suspect that stole the bike and he was apprehended and he confessed to have taken the bike to one Aliyu Mohammed in Madalla. The vigilantes led him to the place and found the bike.”

He said at the man’s shop; the vigilantes met the man busy dismantling the motorcycle and he was arrested.

The vigilante member said the man and the motorcycle were handed over to security personnel at Madalla.

He added, “But the main suspect, who stole the motorcycle, was taken back to Kuje and handed over to the police.
