The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Isa Azare said the suspect was arrested in his house upon a tip-off by the surveillance unit of the Maiduguri Metropolis Area Police Command. Azare said the suspect was apprehended at his residence by the Ibrahim Taiwo Police Division. Upon interrogation, the man confessed to have shipped the Indian hemp from Edo State, the police said.

The PPRO also told newsmen that Promise also confessed to have sold 42 kilograms before he was arrested with 92 kilograms, adding that the suspect who is currently in police custody, would be handed over to the men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after investigations have been concluded.
