A court in Kano has sentenced a man, Isyaku Hashim, also known as ‘Bakacin Haram’, to 17 years’ imprisonment for rape.
Hashim was initially arraigned on charges of rape, which he pleaded not guilty to.
However, during the trial, the prosecution led by Sadiya Adamu Aliyu, presented witnesses whose testimonies the court found credible.
Delivering judgment, Justice Fatima Adamu held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the defendant to 17 years in a correctional facility.
The court heard that the convict had engaged in repeated acts of sexual abuse, particularly involving minors in the Mariri area of the state.
