A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Gali Shehu, to two years imprisonment for drug trafficking.

Shehu was arraigned before Justice Alexander Owoeye in February on a one-count charge of drug trafficking, to which he pleaded guilty.

Following his plea, the prosecutor, Mrs. Juliana Negedu, reviewed the facts of the case and tendered several exhibits as evidence in support of the prosecution’s case.

She subsequently urged the court to convict the defendant based on his plea and the evidence presented.

Consequently, the court found the defendant guilty of the offence and convicted him as charged. (NAN)

Delivering the verdict on Thursday, Justice Owoeye sentenced Shehu to two years at a correctional center. The court, however, granted the convict an option of a N300,000 fine. (NAN)
