An Egor Magistrate Court in Benin has sentenced a 39-year-old man, Osas Iserhienrien, to two years in prison for destroying economic crops and erecting building on the land belonging to one Joseph Kubeyinje.

The prosecutor, ASP Osayomwanbor Omoruyi, had told the court that the convict unlawfully damaged one Joseph Kubeyinje’s economic crops  and built on the land, adding that the economic crops were valued at N1 million.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence was committed sometime in  September 2015 at Osayande Street, Igue-Iheya Community, in  Egor Magisterial District.

Upon his plea of guilt and for leniency, the chief magistrate, Mrs Igho Braimoh, in her ruling gave the convict an option of N250,000, fine.
