A Shari’a court in Kano, on Friday, sentenced a 45-year-old man, Ado Muhammad, to three years in prison for defrauding one Nura Iliyasu of N1.3 million.

The Judge, Malam Isah Rabiu-Gaya, sentenced the defendant with an option of N30,000 fine, and ordered the defendant to pay the complainant N1.3m compensation.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Aliyu Abideen, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September14, 2021, at Kunya Town, Kano.

He said on the same date Nura Iliyasu entrusted the defendant with N1.3m to purchase a car for him, and that, “In the process, the defendant converted the said money to his own personal use.”
