The Bayelsa State High Court, Amassoma/Oporoma Division, sitting in Yenagoa, has sentenced a man, Daniel Amaso, to life imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old pre-degree student of the Niger Delta University in Amassoma.
The convict was arraigned in court for forcefully entering the 17-year-old’s apartment in Amassoma community, Southern Ijaw LGA with a knife and raped her.
He was also said to have robbed the teen of her phone.
Appearing before Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi of the Amassoma/Oporoma High Court sitting in Onopa, Yenagoa, on Monday in charge number OHC/3C/2022 between State and the convict, Amaso, was charged with rape, armed robbery and grievous harm.

Amaso was consequently found guilty on the three counts and sentenced to life imprisonment for the offences of rape and armed robbery, counts 1 and 2 respectively and seven years for the offence of grievous harm.
