Man bags one year for stealing micro-wave

A Benin magistrate court, yesterday, sentenced a 30-year-old man, Udo Akpan Philip, to one-year imprisonment for stealing a microwave machine.

He was arraigned on a two-count charge of stealing and intent to commit felony. He pleaded guilty to the charges and begged for leniency.

The prosecutor, ASP Patrick Agbonifo, told the court that the microwave was worth N25,000.

He said the offences were punishable under sections 411 and 390 of the Criminal Code laws.

Agbonifo said the convict broke into the residence of one Uche Paul at Okpiawele Street GRA on August 30.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. Ivie Akhere, sentenced Philip to one year imprisonment without an option of fine.
