The Criminal Investigation Department of the police in Katsina has commenced investigation into death of a 3-year-old girl following a complaint by her father.
Abubakar Abdullahi had dragged his ex-wife Halima and his in-laws to the central police station blaming them for the death of his daughter, Aisha.
Aisha had been in custody of the in-laws since her parents – Abdullahi and Halima – separated two years ago until her death.
A copy of the complaint, which was copied to the Department of the State Service, was seen by Daily Trust.
A source at the CID told our reporter that the matter is being handled by a top investigator and both parties have since been invited to tell their side of the matter.
He said the in-laws told the police that Aisha died last week Sunday, after she took ill and was admitted in a hospital.
They also said that Abdullahi and his parents were duly notified of Aisha’s death but none of the showed up until she was buried.
Speaking to newsmen, Abdullahi told newsmen that his in-laws were accusing him of insanity to frustrate the matter. This could however not be verified by press time.
