Man charged with alleged fraud in Ekiti

The police in Ekiti State have arraigned 35-year-old Tope Adeniyi before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over allegations of fraud.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant, sometime in February 2026 at Ado-Ekiti, did fraudulently and unlawfully obtain the sum of N50,000 from one Akinola Modupe.
ASP Oriyomi further stated that the defendant, at the same date, time, and place, conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
The prosecutor added that the alleged offences are punishable under Sections 345 and 181(1)(d) of the Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2021.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Joy Egbuson, urged the court to admit her client to bail, assuring the court that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until April 13, for hearing.
