The police have arraigned a 38-year-old man, Sidot Ekpenyong, before an Ogbeson Magistrate Court in Benin City for allegedly damaging a vehicle tyre worth N600,000 and assaulting one Emeka Martins.

The accused and five others at large allegedly conspired to maliciously damage a tyre belonging to the Oloma Table Water Company, valued at N600,000, and also assaulted a staff member of the company.

When the case came up for mention, the police prosecutor, Rufus Pereware, told the court that the accused person was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on unlawful assault, malicious damage, and conspiracy.

He further told the court that the accused and five others now at large conspired to maliciously damage the rear tyre of a Dyna truck with registration number UBJ 637 ZY, valued at N600,000, belonging to one Ifeanyi Bright Oluoma.

According to the prosecutor, the offences are punishable under Sections 172, 353, and 184 of the Criminal Laws of Edo State, 2022.

The prosecutor urged the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Nwoha, to adjourn the matter as one of the complainants, Emeka Martins, was not in court due to health reasons.

The Magistrate subsequently adjourned the case to March 19, for hearing.
