The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned 47-year-old Chief Ajayi Oluwafemi before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over allegations of assault and threat to life.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others, currently at large, on or about October 25, 2025, at Aso Ayegunle in Ado-Ekiti, assaulted one Ogunleye Tunde Rufus, causing him severe bodily injuries.
Inspector Oriyomi further stated that the defendant and his accomplices, on the same date and at the same location, also threatened to kill the said Ogunleye Tunde Rufus.
The prosecutor noted that the offences are contrary to Sections 183 and 46, and punishable under Section 186 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State (2021).
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Taiwo Ogunmoroti, urged the court to admit his client to bail, assuring the magistrate that the defendant would not jump bail if granted.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until March 6, for hearing.
