Man charged with assaulting police officers

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 25-year-old man, Adejuwon Salami, before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court for allegedly assaulting police officers.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant on April 2, at about 13am on Ilawe Road in the Aba Iyamedi area of Ado-Ekiti, assaulted police officers while on official duty and also resisted arrest.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Adeyinka Opaleke, urged the court to grant his client bail.

The Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 and adjourned the case to May16.
