The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned one Lepe Ajibade before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court on charges of willful assault and the obstruction of officers on lawful duty.

The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that on March 3, 2026, at about 10am in Ado-Ekiti, the defendant obstructed ASP Jegede Raphael and his team while they were performing their official duties.

ASP Oriyomi further alleged that at the same time and location, the defendant presented a suspicious affidavit for the change of ownership of a Lexus IS 350 (Registration No: ASB 883 AJ, Chassis No: JTHCE5C21B5001008).

The vehicle is reasonably suspected to have been stolen.

The prosecutor noted that the alleged offences are punishable under Sections 187(a) & (f), 345, 373(i)(e), and 376(I) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State (2021).

Defense counsel, Barrister T. E. Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring the magistrate that the defendant would not jump bail. However, the prosecutor opposed the application, arguing that the defendant was a flight risk.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a civil servant on Grade Level 10 and provide a two-year tax clearance certificate.

The case was adjourned until March 19, for hearing.
