The police have arraigned a 54-year-old man, Mukaila Oladele, before an Iyaganku magistrate’s court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over allegedly obtaining N8 million under the pretext of selling a plot of land.
Oladele, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendant and another person, who remained at large, committed the offences between October, 2024, and April 30, 2025.
Akinloye alleged that the defendant obtained N8m from one Adekunle Hadi under the pretense of selling 10 acres of land along the Oyo–Iseyin road.
He further alleged that the defendant knew the claim was false but converted the money to his personal use contrary to Sections 390(8)(b) and 422 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defence counsel, Mr. Ola Olaniyi, prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of ₦5m with two sureties in like sum and adjourned to March 11, 2026. (NAN)
