Man charged with theft, conversion of cash in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned 30-year-old Abdullahi Mohammed before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court over alleged fraud and the theft of cash.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 26, 2026, at about 4pm at Nexaflow Distribution on Ajilosun Street, Ado-Ekiti.
Inspector Apata alleged that the defendant fraudulently stole the sum of N777,492, which was entrusted to him as a staff member, and converted it to his personal use.
The prosecutor noted that the offence is contrary to Section 295 and punishable under Section 302(8b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring the magistrate that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mr. O. S. Daramola, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until March 23, for hearing.
