Man charged with theft of 43 phones, 8 power banks in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a man, Ojo Sunday (35), before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court for allegedly stealing 43 mobile phones and eight power banks.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant, on or about May 6, 2025, in Ado-Ekiti, stole a carton containing the phones and power banks valued at N1,792,410, property of one Aminu Olukayode Jamiu.

Inspector Oriyomi said the offence contradicted Section 295 and was punishable under Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Tajudeen Olutope, urged the court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to February 17, 2026.
