Man charged with theft of N1.2m motorcycle in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned 25-year-old John Joseph before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court for alleged felony and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodeji Aina, informed the court that on March 12, 2026, at about 1pm in Ado-Ekiti, the defendant—along with others currently at large—stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N1,260,000 belonging to one Timthang Daven.

Inspector Aina said the offence is punishable under Sections 421 and 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The defense counsel, Barrister Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring the magistrate that the defendant would not jump bail.

Chief Magistrate D. M. Babalogbon granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned until April 16, for hearing.
