Man charged with theft of rice

A 32-year-old man, Salisu Garba, was on Monday charged with theft of two bags of rice and other food items in a Kaduna State magistrates’ court.

The prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant and one other person (at large) on March 29, in the Barnawa Market, Kaduna, stole the items from one Khalil Yusuf’s shop.

Leo listed the items stolen as two bags of rice, 25 litres of palm oil, two cartons of spaghetti and 25 litres of soya oil; all valued at N241,000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
