The story was confirmed by the   Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, (DPPRO) Mr Onyeisi Chris (ASP).

The police spokesman revealed that the deceased’s lifeless body was discovered by his house help who immediately raised alarm that attracted neighbours in the vicinity of the scene.  The incident occurred early this month in the morning. Police sources stated that one of the neighbours, who identified himself as Mr Monsuru Alawoki on getting to the apartment of the deceased, later went to Ilupeju police station to report the incident. Alawoki disclosed that he was shocked when the housemaid of the victim rushed into his apartment wailing uncontrollably that her master has just committed suicide inside his children room. Based on this, Alawoki and other co-tenants rushed to the victim’s flat where they saw the body of Mr. Fred dangling lifelessly from the roof of his children’s room. 

According to first hand information from eye witnesses, the victim was said to have been complaining bitterly about his declining income.

Another source who claimed to be familiar to the deceased revealed that the victim had been brooding over his declining financial status. The source also maintained that nobody knew that the victim would commit suicide. “One would have loved to offer help but we never believed it has degenerated to such an unfortunate end”, he said.

 The DPPRO  stated further that the corpse of the victim had been deposited at the Military Hospital, Yaba for autopsy while the rope which he used in hanging himself and the suicide note found in his pocket ,(contents of which have not yet been divulged to the press as at press time) had been recovered and registered as exhibits.
