An Upper Sharia Court sitting in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has convicted a vandal, identified as Julabib Muhammad, for destroying a transformer belonging to Jos Electricity Distribution Company.
Delivering the judgement, the presiding judge, Bar. I.I Jiabo, sentenced him to two years in prison having been foundguilty of the offence against him.
The judge said Muhammad had pleaded guilty to all the changes against him, including criminal trespass, vandalism, and theft.
Reacting to the judgement, JED’s Acting Head of Cooperate Communications and Brand Management, Saratu Dauda Aliyu, described the judgement as “an answered prayer to the menace of incessant vandalism” that has plagued the JED network in recent times, hoping that the conviction would serve as a deterrent to others.
