A chief magistrate’s court in Damaturu, Borno State has remanded a 35-year-old man for allegedly raping his two minor sisters-in-law and impregnating one of them.

The police prosecutor, Sgt Hayatu Musa, told the court that the accused person, Mohammad Baushe, was reported by his father-in-law, Baba Ibrahim, who is father to the two girls.

He said Ibrahim told the Police Criminal Investigation Department that Baushe, alias Gareji, of forestry area in Damaturu lured his two daughters and had carnal knowledge of them.

Musa said the accused, who lived in the same compound with the girls, began abusing each of them sexually when they were under four years old until they reached 9 and 12 years.

“The parents got to know about the abuse when the elder sister was diagnosed to be six months pregnant, and identified the accused as the owner of pregnancy,” he said.

When the FIR was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty as charged, thereby committing an offence contrary to sections 275 and 283 of the panel code law.

The presiding magistrate, Abubakar Lamba Maluri, ordered for more evidence that would prove the case beyond reasonable doubt and adjourned the case to February 4, 2018 for hearing.
