A 30-year-old man is currently cooling his heels in custody of the Ogun Police Command after he was arrested for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in the state.
A statement made available by the police said the suspect, Adewale Olakusi, was arrested over the weekend following a complaint by the father of the victim who reported at Onipanu Division.
According to the statement signed by the command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the complainant said he discovered a sudden and unusual demeanor on his daughter as well as loss of appetite.
And upon questioning, the victim was said to have told her father that the suspect, “forcefully had carnal knowledge of her and warned her never to disclose it to anyone.”
The suspect lives in the compound with parents of the victim at Ota in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state, Oyeyemi said.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime but blamed it on the devil handiwork,” the statement said.
The statement added that “the victim has been taken to hospital where medical report confirmed that the girl has been carnally violated.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution.
