A man has sued a police officer, who allegedly defamed him on Facebook by demanding the sum of N100m before an FCT High Court.
Mike Ile alleged that Oluremi Adefemi Adeoye posted defamatory contents on his Facebook wall on October 18 and 19, 2017 where he accused him of defrauding people using a charity outfit.
He stated that Adeoye accused him of defrauding two women of the sum of N11 million and a state governor of N800,000 for a documentary and only refunded N200,000.
Meanwhile, the presiding judge of the court, Justice Jude Okeke, has foreclosed Adeoye from cross examining the complainant following his absence from court on three previous occasions.
At the hearing on Wednesday, defence counsel Nicholas Udeh sent a letter dated October 2, 2018 stating that he was indisposed health wise. The police officer was said to currently be in Ethiopia on a peace-keeping mission.
The matter has been adjourned to November 5 for hearing.
