A man at the Federal Polytechnic Bida has been detained by the police for allegedly raping a 17-year-old student.
The victim was said to have gone to buy fruits near the institution on April 30, the day the incidence occurred.
The man reportedly lured the student into his vehicle by offering her a ride home.
According to a source, instead of taking her home, the lecturer headed towards Kuchi Woro, a village on the way to Doko.
“He drove her to one primary school building in the village which was deserted.  He attempted to have sex with her and when she resisted he beat her to a pulp and raped her severally. The victim was admitted at the school clinic.
The man, allegedly an official of the polytechnic was arrested and handed over to the police by students. The Rector of the school, Dr. Abubakar Dzukogi, confirmed the incident.
