 A 45-year-old man, Solomon Alabo, on Monday appeared before a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly duping four job seekers of N900,000 with the pretence of securing federal employment for them. 

The defendant of Dutse, Abuja, was docked on a one count charge of cheating. 

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The  complainants are Akande Temitayo, Elizabeth Odido, Catherine Ogar and Bello Elizabeth, all of Kubwa, Abuja,

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainants reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Jan. 3.‎

He said the defendant deceived the complainants and collected between N150,000 and N300,000 respectively from them.

He said the defendant collected the money with the assurance that he would secure jobs for them at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The prosecutor said the defendant converted the money to his personal use.

He said the offence contravened Section 322 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties who must reside within the court jurisdiction.

‎He said one of the sureties must be a civil servant.

He adjourned the matter until May 23, for hearing.  (NAN)
