A 29-year-old man, Emeka Ikoli, has been arraigned at an  Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over alleged conversion of N3.1 million to his personal use.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court yesterday that the defendant and others who are at large, between October 2020 and September 2021 converted the sum of N3.159,000, property of John Bosco, to their personal use.

Sgt. Adeniyi said the defendant conspired with others to stealing, an offence punishable under sections 516, 383,  390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2012.

Counsel to the defendant, Barr. Emmanuel Sumonu, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that he would not jump bail.

The magistrate, Mrs. Kay Williams, granted bail of N200,000 with two sureties, one of whom must have three years tax clearance from Ekiti State.

The matter was adjourned to October 26, 2021, for mention.
