Man docked for exam malpractice in Ekiti

A man, Olusola O. Omotayo, 23, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court for impersonating a student during an examination.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court yesterday that the defendant on March 24, 2021 at about 11am at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, did conspire with one another to commit felony.

Inspector Akinwale said the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 16 Vol 1, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012 and Section 484 of the Criminal Code Cap 16 Vol 1, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.

The prosecutor added that the defendant, did impersonate one Adeoti Oluwabusayo, who is a student of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti.

Counsel to the defendant, Barr. Femi Ariyo, urged the court to grant his client bail, saying he would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, P. T. Ajibade, granted bail of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, who must be resident in Ado-Ekiti and adjourned the case to April 22, 2021, for hearing.
