The accused allegedly hit his mother, Madam Morenike Durojaiye and his sister, Miss Taiwo Durojaiye with a block on their heads on separate occasions, a development which subsequently led to their deaths.

Court proceedings reveal that the offence was reportedly committed on 10th December 2009, contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

Before adjourning the case till January 27 for further hearing, the trial Chief Magistrate, O. O. Ajadi ordered that the accused person be remanded in prison custody and be brought before the court on the adjourned date.

It was, however, gathered that Mayowa could not be immediately taken to the Agodi Prison as ordered by the Chief Magistrate due to his worsening condition of health as he suddenly began to vomit and pass excreta in the prison van.

Sources said that the development forced the court authorities to take him to the University College Hospital [UCH] for medical attention.

Another source said that the accused was also being examined at the hospital to determine his level of sanity as people were still worried over what might have befallen the young man to have decided to take the lives of both his mother and sister on the same day.
