Man docked for stealing N100,000

A 44-year-old man, Tunji Aladewolu, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court for stealing N100, 000.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, told the court yesterday that the defendant and others at large on November 6, 2020, at about 06:00pm at Atikankan area in Ado-Ekiti conspired to commit felony to wit stealing.

Inspector Okunade said the defendant thereby committed an offence contrary to an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol.1 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2012.

The prosecutor added that the defendant and others at large stole N100,000 belonging to one Iyanuoluwa Ayeni and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code C16 Vol.1 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2012.

The counsel to the defendant, Emmanuel Folayan, urged the court to grant his client bail, saying he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. A.O. Oyebanji, granted a N50,000 bail with one surety, with a deposit of N30,000 as bond and that the surety should produce evidence of landed property and adjourned the case to February 15, 2021.
