A 28-year-old man, Adebayo Gbenga, has been dragged to court for allegedly taking pictures of a policeman on traffic duty and posting same on his facebook account.

Gbenga was charged with action likely to cause a breakdown of law and order.

The police said the accused allegedly made false publication on facebook of Inspector Dele Ogunsanlu and some other officers attached to the Area G Police Command in Ogba, who were said to be on lawful duty at Ogba.

The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, said the police officers in question got angry over the issue and decided to trace the accused to his house, where he was eventually arrested.

Odugbo held that the pictures in question portrayed the officers in bad light, and dented their image and that of the police.   He said the officers maintained that the contents of the posting on facebook were lies and did not happen, which made them go after Gbenga and arrest him.

The accused, however, denied the two-count charge against him, pleading not guilty.

The prosecutor asked the court for a date for the police to prove the matter since the defendant had pleaded not guilty.

Thus, the magistrate, Mrs O. C. Emeka-Opara, granted Gbenga bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till May 27, 2019.
