The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned one Adeyemi Gbenga before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged stabbing and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant, on March 25, 2026, at Ikere-Ekiti within the magisterial district, allegedly stabbed one Olawumi Adesoji on the shoulder with a broken bottle, inflicting bodily injury on him.

Apata further alleged that at the same time and place, the defendant stole an Infinix phone valued at N457,000, property of Olawumi Oluwaseunfunmi, and wilfully damaged window panes valued at N40,000, belonging to Olawumi Adesoji.

The prosecutor said the offences contravene Sections 186, 295 and 363 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring that he would not abscond.

The magistrate, Mrs Ajibade P.T., granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, who must provide three years’ tax clearance.

The case was adjourned till April 27, 2026, for hearing.
