A resident of Kubwa in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Yusuf Dan-Birni, has donated his only personal car to a cleric after being moved by his recitation of the Holy Quran.
The gesture was made on Saturday night during a monthly enlightenment program organized by the Jama’atuIzalatulBid’ahWaIqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), an Islamic society.
Dan-Birni, who runs a phone repair workshop in the town, surprised the audience when he approached the podium around 10 pmand handed the keys of his car to Sheikh Mahmud Assalafy, a cleric who was interpreting the recitations.
Dan-Birni asked the sheikh to present the keys to the reciter, Alaramma Usman Nasidi, on his behalf.

Nuhu Abuhuzaifa, a witness to the event, told Abuja Metro that, “The donor was sitting next to me when I noticed him wiping tears from his eyes, apparently in response to the reciter’s performance.”
Nuhu explained that Sheikh Assalafy was guiding the reciter through different chapters and verses of the Quran by simply calling out their numbers. “The reciter would immediately begin reciting the referred version with ease,” he recalled.
After the event, which ended at 11 pm., the donor took a commercial motorcycle home. “I pray the Almighty Allah would please him and his family the way he had pleased the reciter and reward him with a better vehicle than the one he donated,” Nuhu added.
Also reacting to the gesture, Sheikh Abdulmumini A. Khalid, the chief imam of Badar mosque, where the event was held, described Dan-Birni’s action as a rare development.
He explained that the donor brought the car, a Peugeot 406, just a month ago to help transport the recording equipment used for mosque activities, which are shared on various media platforms.
