A 32-year-old man, Dahiru Ibrahim, has been arrested for allegedly drugging his friend, Muazu Bala, in an attempt to escape with his motorcycle in Bako village in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

A member of the vigilante, Hassan Yakubu, said the incident happened on Monday around 9 pm when Ibrahim invited his friend, Bala, to his house and bought him a drink.

He said on arrival, Ibrahim went to buy the drink for him, which he drank and thereafter dozed off.

He said Ibrahim, upon discovering that his friend had dossed off, quickly invited one of his friends, who came to take Bala and dumped him in an uncompleted building in the area.

He said the vigilantes, who were on patrol, became suspicious when they saw Ibrahim and one of his friends, who was still at large, moving Bala into the uncompleted building.

According to him, Ibrahim’s friend narrowly escaped, and the victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where medical personnel confirmed that he was drugged.

“It was in the course of interrogation that the suspect confessed to having poured a substance inside the drink, which made his friend dozed off with the intention to escape with his bike,” he said.

The vigilante member said the victim later regained his consciousness and was discharged from the hospital, while the suspect was handed over to the security personnel.

He said the vigilantes were still on the trail of the second suspect, who is still at large.

The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Josephine Adeh, is yet to react to the incident as at the time of filling the report.
