A 25-year-old man, Ghaddafi Saleh, was on Wednesday found dead inside a drainage around Kundila Housing Estate on Zaria Road in Kano metropolis.

He was reportedly washed away by a flood following a torrential rainfall.

The city experienced a heavy downpour on Sunday which led to flooding in several areas.

A witness, Sultan Bello, said, “This is not the first time in recent times that a body has been found here.

“The water is coming from Challawa Dam and within four days now this is the third one.”

When City & Crime visited the scene, firemen were seen evacuating the body.

The spokesman of the fire service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, said the victim was rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead and that the corpse had been handed over to the police.

He attributed the cause of the incident to a heavy downpour.
