An Ekiti State magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced a 21-year-old man, Owolabi Olamide, to four years imprisonment with hard labour for causing a breach of peace and escaping from police custody.

Olamide was arraigned on October 4, on a five-count charges bordering on  breach of peace by jumping over the fence of one Otutu Ifeanyi, breaking into his shop, stealing items worth millions of naira and escaping from police custody. 

The prosecutor, Inspector Bankole Olasunkanmi, tendered cartons of power bank, tracked and recovered Infinix phone, cartons of phones and other valuables as exhibits.

The defendant did not object to all the exhibits tendered and confessed to have committed the offences.

The Magistrate, Michael Faola, sentenced the defendant to three years imprisonment on count two (jumping over a fence) and one year imprisonment on count five (escape from police custody) with hard labour, and held that the sentences were to run concurrently.
