An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Thursday granted N500,000 bail to an accused person, Adeoye Lekan, 32, over alleged burglary and stealing.
The Magistrate, Ishola Omisade, granted the bail to the accused with two sureties in like sum.
He directed that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction and their addresses verified by the prosecutor.
Omisade adjourned the case until April 12 for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Mathew Numoipre, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Dec 31, 2017 around 12.30 a.m at No 1, Omisakin St., Ife City, Line 4, Ile-Ife.
Numoipre said that the accused conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit: burglary and stealing.
“The accused burgled into the house of one Nathaniel Desmond Muyiwa and stole his Laptop, wrist watch, IPhone and Samsung S8.
“Other Muyiwa’s stolen items are: Itel phone, lacoste belt, two pairs of shoes, two flash drive and five polo T-shirt, all valued at N1, 387, 000,’’ he said.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 383, 390 (9), 411 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The Defense Counsel, Mr Samuel Obi, pleaded for the bail of the accused in most liberal terms, pledging that his client would not jump bail. (NAN)
