The Enugu State Police Command has said it is on the trail of a man who escaped after hacking to death his own son over a misunderstanding.

Daily Trust recalls that this happened less than two weeks after a 60-year-old man identified as one Hyacinth Ilo allegedly killed his son in a cashew nut disagreement.

The command confirmed the killing which it said occurred in Obinetiti-Isikwe, Achi in Oji River LGA of the state.

The police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident in a statement he issued in Enugu yesterday, said a middle-aged man identified as Onyenwe Offor Ajah of Ameke Enu Oduma Aninri LGA reportedly hacked his 38-year-old son Kenneth Ajah to death.

Amaraizu said on March 28 at about 4.30pm, the suspect had a misunderstanding with his son at Orie Oduma market which resulted in a fight with the father allegedly hitting his son with an object on the head which led to his death.

He said the corpse had been deposited at Awgu District General Hospital mortuary while plainclothes operatives have intensified a manhunt for the fleeing suspect (father).
