An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun yesterday remanded one Bello Damilare, 24, in prison custody over murder.

Magistrate Habibat Basiru, who did not take the plea of the defendant, said the court had no jurisdiction to try murder cases.

Basiru asked the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward it to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

She adjourned the case till Oct. 29 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 1, 2019 at about 4:40 p.m. at Oke-Isoda area, Ile-Ife.

He added that the offence contravened Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.(NAN)
