The police, on Monday, arraigned a 42-year-old man, Adams Dokse, in a Karu Magistrate Court, Abuja, for destroying property worth N511,500.
Dokse was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on trespass and mischief, offences he denied committing.
The Prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, told the court that one Robert Ach-Ugbede of Supreme Court Quarters, Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station on August 29, around 02:00pm.
He said the complainant alleged that on July 23, the defendant trespassed into his plot of land at Kugbo, Abuja, and destroyed his property.
Osuji listed the property as blocks used in fencing the plot, valued at N480,000, and workmanship for the fencing, valued at N31,500.
He added that during police investigation, the defendant admitted committing the offences.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 348 and 327 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Abba Tukur, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to October 16, for hearing. (NAN)
