One Harrison Ojeare, 37, who was caught while allegedly trying to steal a toddler, was on Monday arraigned in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The accused is standing trial on a charge of attempting to kidnap a child. The prosecutor, Kehinde Omisakin, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 16, at 5.p.m., at Mushin-Lagos.
She said that the accused was caught while trying to lure a toddler with N20 before an alarm was raised and he was apprehended.
The offence, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports, contravenes Section 4 of the Anti-Kidnapping Prohibition Law of Lagos State, 2017.
Ojeare, however, entered a “not guilty” plea.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted Ojeare a bail of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum. Elias adjourned the case until Sept. 9, for further hearing. (NAN)
