A man has been arraigned before the Kano Magistrate Court No. 17 for allegedly collecting money from prison inmates with a promise to secure their release.
The suspect, Kabiru Ahmed, is accused of collecting the sum of N610,000 from Abdul Mukhtar, Bilkisu Shehu and Muhammad Yahaya to process their release from correctional custody.
The prosecuting counsel, Barrister Sadiya Sabo, charged the man with fraud and criminal breach of trust, to which he pleaded guilty.
However, the accused admitted that he was not alone in the illicit act.
The judge, Justice Hudu Haruna, ordered the handover of the accused to the police for further investigation and adjourned to April 20.
