A 40-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old deaf and dumb girl.

Mukaila Aliu, who resides at No.17 Peluola Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, allegedly took advantage of the victim on November 10, 2017 and had been on the run since then.  The police said Aliu lured the victim by pretending he was going to buy Indomie noodles for her hence she unsuspectingly followed him to an abandoned shop along Oshodi road where he defiled her.

The police said although the suspect was caught in the act, he managed to escape and remained in hiding until November 19, 2018 when he came out to challenge a property developer at a site in Oshodi demanding some fees.

He was identified by one of the workers at the site as a suspect on the wanted list of the police. The worker sneaked out and alerted the Divisional Police Officer, Makinde Police Station, who promptly arrested him and handed him over to the Gender Section of the command for further investigation.

The Lagos State Police command spokesman, Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident described the arrest as part of the command’s relentless war against sex offenders.

The police also said a 56-year-old security guard was arrested for allegedly sleeping with his daughter and forcing her to use contraceptives.

Oti said the suspect, identified simply as Bello, was reported by the school authorities where he worked that he had been having sexual intercourse with his daughter who lived with him in a one-room security post apartment given to him by the school management. He said the victim alleged that her father slept with her every night and gave her contraceptives to prevent her from becoming pregnant.

He added that the command also arrested one Chika Okafor, 39, for allegedly luring a 15-year-old girl into a hotel where he defiled her. The victim had reportedly run away from home because her mum threatened to beat her for losing an important item.

The suspect reportedly took her to a beer parlour were he got her drunk. He was then said to have taken her to a hotel and upon discovering the girl was a virgin, shaved her pubic hair, deflowered her and went away with the hair after dropping her off at a location close to her parents’ house.

Oti said the suspects would be charged before the Family section of the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
