The police in Jigawa State have arrested a man for allegedly killing his 22-year-old girlfriend on Saturday in Jahun LGA of the state.

The state’s police command spokesman, SP Abdu Jijiri, who declined to give further details on the suspect because the case was still under investigation, told Daily Trust yesterday that the victim was found dead in a pool of her own blood by the road side.

According to him, the lifeless body of Salamatu Garba of Kofar Gabas, Jahun was dumped at the outskirts of the town after her throat was slit.

He added that the deceased was confirmed dead by doctors at General Hospital Jahun and that the corpse had since been released to the family for burial.

It was further gathered that the victim might have been raped before she was killed as some pieces of condom were said to have been found by the side of her lifeless body.

It was also gathered that there were wounds on her hands, which sources said suggested that there were some struggle before she was overpowered.
