A Kano Magistrate Court in the Gyadi-Gyadi area of Kano Municipality has sentenced Abubakar Salisu to one year in prison for stabbing Sabitu Muhammad during a dispute.
The court heard that Salisu attacked Muhammad with a pair of scissors, stabbing him in the stomach and causing a serious injury. Salisu was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm to which he pleaded guilty.

The magistrate, Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, sentenced Salisu to one year in jail or a fine of N70,000. She further ordered him to pay N250,000 to cover the victim’s medical expenses.
