An Area Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State on Wednesday, sentenced one Abdullahi Usman to 12 months imprisonment for enticing a married woman and defamation of character.

The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charges. However, the judge granted the convict an option of a N50,000 fine in lieu of the 12-month jail term.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police Station on Nov. 24, 2025, by the complainant, Mr. Hamza Aliyu.

Gokwat stated that the convict called the complainant’s wife and demanded she meet him at a hotel.

The prosecutor added that the convict threatened the woman, stating that if she failed to comply, he would inform her husband that she was involved in extramarital affairs and had aborted several pregnancies resulting from the acts.

The prosecutor further informed the court that during the police investigation, the convict confessed to the crime.

According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes the provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code Law, 2017. (NAN)
