Man jailed 6 months for stealing Maggi, soaps

An Area Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced one Jemilu Bala (22) to six months imprisonment for stealing a carton of Maggi seasoning cubes and a carton of Dudu-Osun soap all valued at N55,000.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.

He also gave the convict an option of N20, 000 fine.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the “A” Division police station on Oct. 10, by Mr Gbenga Ayantola.

He said the accused person trespassed into his store and stole a carton of Maggi seasoning cubes and a carton of Dudu – Osun soap all valued at N55,000.

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the accused confessed to the crime.

He said the offence contravened the Penal Code Law. (NAN)
