A 21-year-old man, Ahmed Sikiru, who pleaded guilty to trafficking 800g of indian hemp, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had charged Sikiru on a one-count before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke.

Sikiru admitted guilt during arraignment, pleaded for leniency and promised never to commit crime again.

The judge, however, directed that the sentence should start from the date of his arrest, February 7, 2019.

The prosecution had said Sikiru was arrested at the White Sand area of Ijora, Lagos State, with the drug. (NAN)
