Man killed, motorcycle stolen in suspected robbery attack in Kogi

Suspected armed robbers invaded the residence of a young man, Adewale Jethro and clubbed him to death.

The assailants, who invaded the victim’s house at Kaba in Kabba/ Bunu Local Government Area of the state, also took away his motorcycle.

The incident reportedly happened around 8.30pm on Wednesday when his assailants attacked him at his residence in Otu community of Kabba town.

Locals added that the incident happened shortly after the young man returned from a visit to a neighbourhood in the area.

“We are heartbroken by the horrifying details of this incident, his motorcycle was stolen and the weapon used to scatter his head and skull was left at the scene. This is not just a crime, it is a barbaric violation of human dignity and a threat to the peace of our community.

“We strongly condemn this wicked and cowardly act, and we are calling on the security agencies, traditional rulers, elders and all stakeholders to rise up now and take concrete steps to prevent further bloodshed in our land. We can no longer remain silent while evil men steal lives and peace from our midst,” said Emmanuel Sunday Olorunmaiye, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Owe Titún in Kabba.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP William Aya, confirmed the incident, saying the man killed was a commercial motorcycle rider in the community.

He said, “The killer of Adewale was his passenger. He macheted him and left with his motorcycle; he died before help could reach him.’’
